The Federal Pell Grant is a need-based grant that helps low-income undergraduate and certain post-baccalaureate students pay for college or career school. It is the largest federal grant program for students attending college and does not have to be repaid. Pell Grants are awarded to students who have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree.
The amount of a Pell Grant depends on the student’s financial need and the cost of attendance at the school they are attending. The maximum Pell Grant award for the 2022-2023 school year is $6,895.
