iTunes Plus was a higher-quality audio format offered by the iTunes Store from 2007 to 2012. iTunes Plus tracks were encoded at 256 kbps using the AAC codec, which resulted in a higher-quality listening experience than the standard 128 kbps AAC tracks offered by the iTunes Store. iTunes Plus tracks were also DRM-free, meaning that they could be played on any device that supported the AAC format.
iTunes Plus was discontinued in 2012, as the iTunes Store transitioned to selling DRM-free 256 kbps AAC tracks as the standard quality for all music purchases. However, iTunes Plus tracks that were purchased prior to 2012 can still be played on any device that supports the AAC format.
